Snapshot 2023

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully prior to participating in VWSnapshot, which is a Volkswagen Ireland photo contest for the Irish Instagram community. The Contest is organised by Volkswagen Ireland based in Block C Liffey Valley Office Campus Liffey Valley, Dublin 22, D22 CF60.

Everyone who participates (the ‘Participants’) in the Contest fully and unconditionally agrees to and accepts these VWSnapshotTerms & Conditions. ‘Content’ or an ‘Entry’ refers to a photo entered into the Contest.

1. Eligibility for Participation: The Contest is only open to individuals who, at the time of entry: are resident in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and must be over 16 years of age. Proof of identity, age & address may be required by shortlisted Participants during a final screening process to be conducted by Volkswagen Ireland once the Contest has closed.

2. Participation Period: The Contest is open for participation from 9AM on May 15th 2023 until 6PM on September 30th 2023.

4. Ownership of Photos: All entries must be owned and submitted by the Participant on their own Instagram profile.

5. Permission: By participating in the Contest, the Participants give permission for the entries (i.e. photos, Instagram username of Participants) to be uploaded to the website www.volkswagen.ie/snapshot. Participants also must have permission from people featured in the content.

6. Unlimited Entries: There is no limit to how many times someone can enter the contest with one photo or with different photos.

7. Enter via Instagram: The Participants enter the Contest by uploading their own photos through the free Instagram app. The app can be downloaded via the App store and Google Play Store.

8. The Photos: The Participants enter the Contest by tagging photographs relevant to the VWSnapshot category they are uploading, via the Instagram app.

9. Instagram Hashtags and Tagging: The mandatory hashtag is #VWSnapshot and required category hashtags are as follows. Volkswagen category: #Volkswagen, Smartphone category: #Smartphone, Animals category: #Animals, Food category: #Food, Garden category: #Garden, Night category: #Night.

10. Hashtag Rules: To be entered into the Contest, each entry include the main mandatory hashtag #VWSnapshot and a correct category hashtag (e.g. #Food or #Night). Failure to use at minimum two correct hashtags will mean your Content will not be entered in the Contest. All category hashtags can be found on volkswagen.ie/snapshot. 

11. Instagram Privacy: To be entered into the Contest, the participants Instagram account must be on public when posting and for the duration on the Contest. Posts to private accounts cannot be seen and therefore cannot be included in the contest.

12. The Participants cannot retroactively edit old post captions to include mandatory hashtags. 

13. Copyright: Participants who enter Content into VWSnapshot retain the copyright of the Content entered but the organisers retain the right to use any of the Content entered.

14. Staff Restrictions: The VWSnapshot contest is not open to staff of Volkswagen Ireland (be they employees or contractors), their immediate family members or associated companies, including (but not limited to) the Contest’s promotional partner(s). For these purposes an “immediate family member” includes a spouse, partner, child, stepchild, grandchild, brother, step-brother, sister, step-sister, parent, step parent or legal guardian.

15. Access to Personal Data: No personal details are required from the Participants but those shortlisted will be required to share basic contact details with Volkswagen Ireland in order to administer the Contest. Entrants and voters may be accessed via their social media profiles and they may be notified by email as part of the Contest. Personal information processed by the Volkswagen Ireland and is subject to the privacy policy at volkswagen.ie/snapshot.

16. Expenses: All Participants are responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by them as a result of participating in or winning the Contest.

17. Competition Rules – The Prizes: Each category winner will receive a different prize for winning their category; a DSLR camera, a PlayStation 5, AirPods Pro, a BlueBook voucher, a Pizza Oven, an Oculus VR headset and a FitBit smart watch.

18. 12 ‘Volkswagen Favourite’ winners will also be part of a special Volkswagen charity calendar with charity partner FoodCloud.

19. Non-transferable: The prizes are as stated, are not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. In the event of a prize being unavailable, Volkswagen Ireland reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.

Prize Availability: If the winner is unavailable or unable to avail of the prize, the prize will then be awarded to the next choice. This will continue to occur until an available winner can avail of the prize. The winner will NOT be awarded a cash or prize equivalent.

20. Winner Publicity: The winner(s) agree(s) to the use of their name, their likeness and photos and will co-operate with any other reasonable requests by Volkswagen Ireland and sponsors relating to any post-winning publicity.

21. Winner Promotion: The winners agree that his or her Content may be used by Volkswagen Ireland for general media and marketing purposes without remuneration. The winner agrees to the use of their name, likeness and Content and will co-operate with any other reasonable requests by Volkswagen Ireland relating to any post-winning publicity as it is mutually beneficial.

22. Losing Prize: Failure to meet the eligibility requirements may result in forfeiture of the prize.

23. Competition Rules – Disqualification Unsportsmanlike Behaviour: Volkswagen Ireland reserve the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any Participant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest; to be acting in violation of these Terms and Conditions; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person or contestant.

24. Content Policy for Photo Uploads: Volkswagen Ireland reserve the right to reject entries to the Contest: All Entries into the Contest are subject to Volkswagen Ireland approval after being uploaded to the Instagram app. All entries that are deemed inappropriate and/or offensive will not be considered. Our Content policy prohibits images containing nudity or sexually explicit material, or Content that is otherwise deemed offensive to any minority group. Volkswagen Ireland reserves all rights to decide what is considered inappropriate and/or offensive. Participants agree not to create or submit a profile or any picture in connection with their Entry into the Contest that is: slanderous, defamatory, derogatory, or slanderous; is pornographic, or otherwise sexually explicit; includes offensive language; portrays violence; portrays or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, portrays or promotes illegal activities; portrays dangerous stunts; promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual. If Volkswagen Ireland discovers that any material submitted by Participants include any such elements or is otherwise inappropriate and/or offensive, then the Entry will be rejected. In addition, in the event that a profile or picture is determined by Volkswagen Ireland, in its sole discretion, to infringe on the intellectual property of any third party Volkswagen Ireland may likewise reject the Entry. Suspend a Participant: Volkswagen Ireland reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to remove any photos, or to deny, restrict, suspend, or terminate a Participants access to all or any part of the website at any time, for any or no reason, with or without prior notice or explanation, and without liability.

24. Disclaimers Liability: Volkswagen Ireland and the Participants are liable for any claims subject to the Contest under the usual Irish law, subject to the qualifications below.

25. Operational Issues: Volkswagen Ireland is not responsible for any lost, late, misdirected, stolen, illegible or incomplete entries. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, caused by e.g. infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Volkswagen Ireland which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Volkswagen Ireland reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest and/or select winners from all eligible entries received prior to the cancellation. Volkswagen Ireland reserves the right to correct any typographical, printing, computer programming or operating errors at any time.

26. Technical Issues: Volkswagen Ireland is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, caused by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in the Contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Contest. Volkswagen Ireland assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Volkswagen Ireland is not responsible for any problems, failures or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, email, players or browsers, on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any website, or on account of any combination of the foregoing. Volkswagen Ireland is not responsible for any injury or damage to any Participant or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or viewing photos in connection with this contest.

27. Limitation on Liability: In no event shall Volkswagen Ireland be liable to you or any third party for any indirect, consequential, exemplary, incidental, special or punitive damages, including lost profits damages arising from your Entry into the Contest. Jurisdiction & Amendments

28. Governing Law: These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Irish law and the courts of Ireland shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes arising out of or in connection with the Contest. Amendments: Volkswagen Ireland may modify the Terms & Conditions and such modifications shall be effective upon posting on the webpage volkswagen.ie/snapshot.
